Summer Robotics Camp - Course Description
New Curriculum for 2008! Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty building your own robots in RoboContenders. Students in this robotics camp will use the VEX™ Robotics Design System to build awesome robots, calculate gear ratios, and program robots to move on their own! Students will practice engineering principles to create mechanisms for specific challenges - and ultimately compete to test their solutions. With more than 500 parts, including steel plates, motors, sensors, radio receivers and a six-channel remote, the sky is the limit.
Working in small teams, students in this robotics camp will compete in fun challenges that may include robo-soccer, obstacle courses, capture the flag, tag, sumo wrestling, maze solving, and much more! Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team’s robot will have to morph to better adapt and compete.
Advanced students will have the opportunity to learn about building complex robotic sensors, advanced robot arms, drive trains, and programming “smarter” robots. This season we have new kits with advanced parts, sensors and accessories to help you take your skills to the next level. Robotics is the main portion of this summer camp but each student will be given a brief introduction to the Easy C™ programming language.

Who should take this course?
Do you like the mechanics and engineering of making things work and the thought of designing robots? Enjoy competition and like to work in a team? Are you a “hands-on” learner? This robotic engineering summer camp course may be perfect for you.
